Sandarac gum resin (Tetraclinis articulata) from Morocco is known as Avar tree and has a wonderful warm, light, fruity, balsamic, frankincense-like fragrance. In Morocco, it is steeped in folk medicine and used as an aid for difficult childbirth. It has a calming effect and said to reduce cramps.

It is also used a base for varnish & lacquer.
