Guggul Superior (Commiphora mukul) from Pakistan has a higher concentration of oil in comparison to the Guggul from India. A relative of the African myrrh tree, guggul is a soft, golden brown myrrh gum resin. An exudation from a small scrubby tree or shrub that's found in the central regions of Pakistan, Africa and the Middle East, guggul has a warm, slightly sweet, balsamic, herbaceous, and earthy aroma with hints of vanilla. It's our preferred myrrh-type resin for many of our own incense mixtures. Well known and widely used in Ayurvedic medicine, Guggul or "common myrrh" is said to rejuvenate, to increase one's energy and provide an overall feeling of well being. It purifies the air and cleanses the body. Scientific research indicates that common myrrh reduces pain and inflammation and has calming effects. It's used as incense in India in the evening to relax before retiring.

I burn this resin/gum on charcoal. The aroma is almost like bread cooking in the kitchen...kind of sweet and earthy. Recommended!

Guggul Superior
This is like bread cooking in Grandma's kitchen...a sweet earthy aroma you can't get enough of. I burn it directly on a charcoal puck and let it take me away....very intoxicating...just close your eyes, sit back and drift away. Highly recommended!

Wonderfully fragrant and sweet. Still a little sticky in places, but with small bits of bark, so watch out for that. The bark is not hard to remove when crushed.

New experience
This is a new experience for me. I enjoy that it is so earthy. It's moist. I will be making a tincture with this.

Notable quality.
This was absolutely great quality, with no bark at all and large, gummy pieces of resin. It also seemed to hold its own aroma, and I prefer it over the other guggals, even though they were also good quality. Reminds me of vanilla with pinon. Also nice with Frankincense.

Good
This is one of the best myrrh for clearing space. It has the normal creative element and that enhances artist endeavors.

Guggu[ Resin
This resin is not your mainstream myrrh. I use it in conjunction with Copal to clear space. It is very effective and requires a relatively small amount. Aside from its medicinal qualities, it will place the mind in a meditative state and or restful sleep. The odor is very earthy with vanilla top notes. Each myrrh has its own specialty. Knowing which to use for what takes time to ascertain. For the purpose that I use the Guggul, I am completely satisfied with the quality of this resin.
