Growing only at high elevations in Northern Somalia, Boswellia frereana has similar effects to its lower lying carteri counterpart, however it is nearly non-existent in the Western market due to the ceremonial uses of the resin. Biblical references to holy anointing oil are most likely Boswellia frereana. It is a strong, earthy, menthol-like scent that is wild harvested and steam distilled.
