Obtained from a spiny shrub native to the desert regions of the Middle East and the mountains of Asia, gum tragacanth is used as a binder to make incense cones, sticks and pellets. Because of its bland flavor/fragrance and thickening qualities, gum tragacanth has many uses in arts, foods, pharmacy, etc.
