Musk (Ambrette) Seed Absolute is a colorless to pale yellow liquid when extracted from the whole and undamaged ambrette seeds with a warm, delicately sweet, musky bouquet with a leathery, fruity, amber undertone of good tenacity. In natural perfumery, it is used in musk accords, amber bases, high quality florals, incense creations, sacred perfumes, Oriental bouquets, colognes. In natural perfumery, it blends well with agarwood, cedarwood, white champa flower, frankincense, jasmine, lotus, myrrh, patchouli, sandalwood, vetiver and ylang ylang...just to name a few!

An "absolute" is an aromatic essence produced by first extracting the waxes, pigments and volatile essence of a natural botanical materials using a solvent such as hexane. This produces a solid waxy or plastic mass and is called a "concrete". The "concrete" is then washed in ethanol, chilled to precipitate out the non-alcohol soluble waxes, filtered and then vacuum distilled to remove the remaining alcohol. This produces the concentrated "absolute". An "absolute" is generally a highly pigmented material that is, at room temperature, a viscous liquid, viscous grainy liquid, solid waxy mass or solid plastic mass depending on the botanical being extracted.
