BRAND NEW!
We are very excited to offer you our newest addition, Black Hojary (Boswellia sacra)! Dark and mysterious in color, the fragrance has a surprising, fruitier component with balsamic notes that isn't present in Hojarys 1st Choice, Royal, Brown Superior or Green. It is rather unknown as it is primarily used for distillation due to it's high oil content.
The fragrance, look & feel of all types of frankincense are determined by the type of tree, the region where it grows and most importantly, the climate and weather. For example, the Royal Green, Hojary Superior & Hojary 1st Choice grow on the mountains near the desert where the sunshine is plentiful & rain is minimal. The Black Hojary trees are nearer to the coast where there is more rain & moisture in general that help create the darker look.
Fair trade & responsibly harvested. Sustainability is of utmost importance, for trees & the locals who gather the frankincense.
In the past many of the trees in Oman have been over-harvested and not properly rested, forcing harvesters to travel further into the desert for quality resins. Economic growth and the expansion of towns, homes and businesses are also encroaching upon trees. The long-term survival of the international frankincense trade of Oman resins is now in the hands of the Sultanate of Oman. The government has taken control of the entire process and is now releasing stock on a very limited basis. Because of this, we can only import small shipments.
Very limited supply.
